Adoption/ Foster Care

  • Foster Club — The national network of young people in foster care. The website provides support, information and dialogue. 

  • I’m Adopted shares stories, resources, and topics for adoptees.

Alcohol / Drugs

  • Above the Influence — Pressure to drink, do drugs or do anything that goes against who you are in order to fit in -that's negative influence.

  • Go Ask Alice! — Originally for college students, now for everyone. Answers to all those burning questions.

  • National Institute on Drug Abuse: Students & Young Adults — The “Students & Young Adults” section gives information and resources about drugs, smoking, marijuana, steroids, prescription medications, and other topics.

Bullying

  • Girlshealth.gov offers girls reliable, useful information on health and well-being, including resources on stopping and standing up to bullying.

  • StopBullying provides information from various government agencies on what bullying is, what cyberbullying is, who is at risk, and how you can prevent and respond to bullying.

HSFPP is a program that provides you with information to help you make informed financial decisions as a teen and young adult and equips you with the skills and knowledge to adapt as your circumstances change.   • CashCourse — Are you planning to go to college or taking some classes already? If so, then CashCourse is for you. CashCourse is a free, online noncommercial financial literacy resource for college students and those teens planning to attend college. The program provides interactive personal finance tools, articles, and other resources to help you navigate the financial decisions that you will face before and while attending a post-secondary institution.

LGBT Support

  • The Trevor Project — 866-488-7386. 24/7 suicide & crisis prevention helpline for gay and questioning youth. You can also talk via text or chat.

  • Trans Lifeline — 877-565-8860. A line primarily for transgender people experiencing a crisis. This includes people who may be struggling with their gender identity and are not sure that they are transgender.

  • I'm From Driftwood — True stories by gay people from all over. More GLBTQ Resources

  • Campus Pride  — Campus Pride's objective is to develop necessary resources, programs and services to support LGBTQ and ally students on college campuses across the United States. Includes the Campus Pride Index identifying LGBTQ-friendly colleges and universities.

  • Gay/Lesbian/Straight Education Network (GLSEN) — Strives to assure that each member of every school community is valued and respected regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.

  • Gender Spectrum — Provides education, training and support to help create a gender sensitive and inclusive environment for all children and teens.

  • GLAAD — The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation is dedicated to promoting and ensuring fair, accurate and inclusive representation of people and events in the media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.

  • GSA Network — Connects school-based Gay-Straight Alliances to each other and community resources through peer support, leadership development, and training.

  • Dealing with Depression  — An interactive workbook to help deal with depression.

  • Half of Us — Half of Us, mtvU and The Jed Foundation aim to initiate a public dialogue to raise awareness about the prevalence of mental health issues and connect students to the appropriate resources to get help. The goal is to provide information about mental health and help teens and young adults find needed resources. The website also hosts interviews with celebrities who has struggles with substance abuse and mental health issues.

Race

  • Black Lives Matter — Black Lives Matter Foundation, Inc is a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes. Resources include toolkits on healing action, conflict resolution, and healing justice.

  • Black Mental Wellness — The mission of Black Mental Wellness, Corp. is to provide access to evidence-based information and resources about mental health and behavioral health topics from a Black perspective, to highlight and increase the diversity of mental health professionals, and to decrease the mental health stigma in the Black community.

  • Ourselves Black — Ourselves Black is a place where we own the narrative and are unapologetic about our goal: to share imagery and tell stories infused with knowledge that promotes Black mental health.
