Library Assistant - Part Time
Overview:
Red Bank Public Library is accepting applications for the title of Library Assistant to work in the Circulation Department as well as the Children’s Department, a part-time position. The library is located in Monmouth County and is a member of STELLA (Sharing & Technology Enhancing Local Library Access)
Responsibilities:
The work week is an average of 20 hours, including daytime, evening and a Saturday rotation.
Handle all aspects of circulation including check in/out library materials on automated circulation systems. Renew materials in person, over the phone.
Answer the phone and refer calls to the appropriate extension.
Assist patrons with library app use and material searches.
Answer basic questions and refer inquiries to appropriate departments.
Collect payment for lost items, copier use, used books.
Prepare interlibrary loan items for shipping.
Shelve materials, tidy shelves, and put materials in correct call number and alphabetical order.
Rearrange and move collections as requested to make room for new materials.
Perform additional related tasks as requested by the supervisor or administrative staff.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Have a professional, courteous, and friendly manner
Have strong customer service skills in-person and on the telephone
Be able to multitask and manage interruptions
Be computer literate, creative and comfortable using common software and the internet
High school diploma required.
Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
General knowledge of library principles, methods, materials, and practices is a plus.
Familiarity with the Polaris Leap library automated circulation system is preferred but training will be provided.
Employment Details:
Flexible hours at $17.00/hr working up to 20 hours per week, including evenings and a Saturday rotation. Employment is contingent upon completion of a background and reference check, medical exam and approval by the Library Board of Trustees.

Part-Time Digital Literacy Instructor

Responsibilities:
Inspire and Educate: Craft killer training sessions (think in-person, virtual, and webinars) that are informative, engaging, and fun for adults and kids alike!
Empower Job-Seekers: Provide invaluable support to job-seekers with resume building, mock interviews, and navigating workforce development resources.
Troubleshoot Tech Issues: Be the go-to person for resolving basic technical issues, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
Record-Keeping: Keep track of your awesome work by maintaining accurate records in line with our protocols.
Circulation and Reference Desk: Be ready to jump in and help at the circulation and reference desk when needed, making sure our patrons always have a fantastic experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Customer Service Rockstar: Excellent communication and customer service skills are a must.
Experienced Educator: Proven experience in teaching or training, especially with adult learners.
Tech Guru: Intermediate to advanced computer skills, knowledge of emerging technologies and digital trends, high-level proficiency with Microsoft Office, and social media.
Creative Trainer: Ability to deliver engaging training materials both in-person and online.
Adaptable and Patient: Work with students at all levels, from tech newbies to advanced users.
Problem Solver: Strong ability to troubleshoot and provide technical support.
Detail-Oriented: Comply with record-keeping protocols like a pro.
Bilingual: Spanish/English is a fantastic plus.
